AMD appears to be preparing a major overhaul of its processor lineup. According to recent leaks, the Zen 6 architecture, set to launch under the codename Medusa, could be a groundbreaking advancement in computing technology. The flagship Ryzen 9 11950X, expected in 2026, will reportedly boast a record-breaking 24 cores — a significant leap from the current 16-core models. At the heart of these new processors will be 12-core CCD chiplets, fabricated using TSMC's advanced 2nm (N2) process. This not only promises increased performance but also a substantial reduction in power consumption.
Interestingly, all Medusa-based processor families — Medusa Point for laptops, Medusa Ridge for desktops, and Medusa Halo as the successor to Strix Halo — will be built around a unified 12-core CCD. Notably, Medusa Point processors may integrate 3D V-Cache technology, potentially delivering a major performance boost for data-intensive tasks. Additionally, Zen 6 is expected to feature integrated graphics based on the UDNA architecture, making these chips highly appealing to both gamers and professionals.
