Minisforum, a Chinese brand, has announced an upgraded version of its NAB9 Plus mini-PC, focusing on expanding connectivity options for external devices. While retaining the powerful Intel Core i9-12900HK processor, the model introduces two key upgrades—an OCuLink port and USB4—enhancing compatibility with external GPUs. This transforms the compact system into a flexible platform for gamers and professionals who demand high performance in an all-in-one format.
The standout feature of the NAB9 Plus is the OCuLink port, which minimizes latency when using an eGPU. This addition is particularly beneficial for VR gaming enthusiasts and users engaged in resource-intensive tasks like 3D rendering. Complementing this, USB4 expands the range of compatible external GPUs, while the inclusion of DisplayPort 1.4 (missing in the base version) allows for high-refresh-rate monitor connections.
Despite its compact size, the device remains thermally efficient—Minisforum has refined its cooling system to ensure stable operation of the 14-core processor even under extreme loads. The NAB9 Plus also supports upgrades, allowing users to install up to 32GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a total of 8TB of storage (4TB PCIe 4.0 + 4TB SATA 3.0).
In addition to these upgrades, the NAB9 Plus retains a standard set of ports, including HDMI 2.1, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, two USB 2.0, and dual 2.5G Ethernet. Wireless connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring fast data transfer. Pricing remains in line with its predecessor: the base version without RAM and SSD is priced at $317 (approximately 28,000 RUB), while the top-tier configuration with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD costs $427 (around 38,000 RUB).
For now, the device is available only in China, but given that the original NAB9 reached international markets, there’s a strong chance the NAB9 Plus will follow suit. While Minisforum hasn’t disclosed global release details yet, the upgraded model is poised to become a favorite among compact PC enthusiasts seeking desktop-like scalability.
