NVIDIA Promises to Fix RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPU Crashes

Dozens of GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 users have recently complained about unstable operation of video cards. NVIDIA has already acknowledged the problem and is investigating it.

Numerous owners of new cards have encountered an annoying error in the form of a black screen and initialization of the GPU after installing the drivers. The problem occurred mainly among those who updated GeForce Game Ready 572.16 WHQL to the latest version. It is noteworthy that some users of the 40th series reported the same thing. According to Tom's Hardware, the cause of the crashes most likely lies in the driver update itself.

So far, only temporary measures have been proposed to solve the problem — for example, you can limit the interface or reduce the monitor refresh rate to 60 Hz. Some people are helped by removing the latest version of the driver using third-party utilities.

NVIDIA itself is already aware of the failures. Company representatives told PC Gamer that they are collecting user complaints and searching for the source of the error. Most likely, a corrective patch will be released for card owners in the near future.

Earlier, the start date of sales of AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT appeared — the new cards will be able to compete with NVIDIA flagships.
