The main campaign of The Sinking City 2 features five firearms. The protagonist starts with a pistol, while the other four weapons must be found as you progress through the game. These weapons are missable: once you finish a chapter, you cannot return to the previous area, and collected items do not carry over into New Game+. In this guide, we'll show you where to find every weapon in The Sinking City 2.
Equalizer Mk. II — Pistol
- Chapter: 1.
- How to get it: Available automatically.
The Equalizer Mk. II is the protagonist's starting pistol. You do not need to search for it, as the weapon is already in your inventory at the beginning of Chapter 1.
Despite being available from the start, the pistol remains useful throughout most of the game. It is especially handy for conserving rarer ammunition and landing precise shots on enemy weak points.
Field Surgeon — Shotgun
- Chapter: 2, The Wake-Up Call.
- Location: The bar near the street with the dead whale.
You can obtain the shotgun in Chapter 2, when a massive whale carcass blocks your path through the flooded streets as part of the main story. Disembark near the crane and inspect the mechanism. You will discover that it needs fuel and a Steel Gear to operate.
Then head to The Silver Eel, the nearby bar across from the Fire Department.
Go inside and pass through the Safe Room to reach the area behind the bar. You will find the Field Surgeon shotgun mounted on the wall there.
The shotgun is particularly effective at close range and against larger enemies. Its ammunition is relatively scarce, so it is best not to waste shells on ordinary enemies.
The Minuteman — Submachine Gun
- Chapter: 2, The Wake-Up Call.
- Location: Devil's Reef Hotel, Generator Room.
The second weapon available in this chapter is found much later, in the basement of Devil's Reef Hotel. While exploring the hotel, make your way down to the basement and inspect the locked door with the Lorelei Lock. You need three separate keys to open it. First, find the Staff Key, use it to enter the Staff Room on the second floor, and collect the three Lorelei Tokens there. Each token opens one of the three Lorelei Chests scattered throughout the hotel, and each chest contains one of the keys needed for the lock.
Once you have all three keys, return to the basement and open the door with the Lorelei Lock. Beyond it is a corridor lined with explosive growths. Keep your distance or destroy them before getting too close. At the end of the corridor is a passage filled with poisonous gas. Take the nearby doorway and follow the alternate route around it.
Continue through the corridor until you reach the Generator Room. The Minuteman is lying on a table next to the ventilation machinery. Make sure to pick it up before activating the mechanism required for the ventilation system puzzle.
The submachine gun has a high rate of fire and is particularly useful against groups of regular enemies. Sustained fire burns through ammunition quickly, however, so try to fire in short bursts.
Black Reef Longshot — Rifle
- Chapter: 3, A Sight for Sore Eyes.
- Location: Akeley Memorial Hospital, Prosthetics Workshop.
The Black Reef Longshot rifle can be found while exploring Akeley Memorial Hospital.
To obtain the weapon, you first need to collect both halves of the Old Man's Face Mask. The first can be found shortly after meeting the Doctor in the Registry. Go through the broken double doors and open the case containing one half of the face. Take it to the Prosthetics Workshop and place it in the machine.
You will find the second half much later, after passing through the Observation Ward and defeating the boss near the Asylum Gate. Enter Prosthetics Craft and Repair, open another case, and take the missing half.
Return to the Prosthetics Workshop and combine both halves using the machine. Take the completed Old Man's Face Mask and use it to open the nearby face-locked door. The Black Reef Longshot is in the next room.
Linguist's Folly — Grenade Launcher
- Chapter: 4, Time and Tide.
- Location: Arkham Fish Market.
The final weapon is the Linguist's Folly grenade launcher. You can find it while exploring Arkham Fish Market.
You need two Leyden Jars to reach the grenade launcher. You will find the first one earlier in the story in the Construction Site and use it to open doors sealed by starfish mechanisms. If you left the jar inside one of these mechanisms, simply go back and retrieve it.
The second Leyden Jar is located in Ma Fishface's Shop. After dispelling the magical ward and watching the short scene with Ma Fishface, pick up the jar from the counter.
Once you have both jars, return to the Market Floor and head toward the Weighing Station. Nearby is a locked door with two starfish mechanisms. Insert one Leyden Jar into each mechanism to open the way.
Beyond the door is a small storage room containing Linguist's Folly.
The grenade launcher deals heavy area-of-effect damage and is particularly effective against groups of monsters and large targets. Grenades are fairly rare, however, so it is best to save the weapon for important fights.
