Colorful, known for its gaming and enthusiast hardware, has unveiled teaser images of the CVN X870 motherboard based on the AMD X870 chipset. The board’s standout feature is its quick-release GPU system, designed to address the common issue of fragile plastic PCIe slot latches.
Unlike traditional mechanisms, Colorful has implemented a button styled after a classic power switch. According to the company, pressing it instantly unlocks the graphics card, minimizing the risk of slot or GPU damage. Notably, this release comes amid issues with competing solutions — ASUS’s Q-Release system for its 800-series motherboards has faced reliability complaints, forcing the company to launch a replacement program. Judging by the renders, Colorful has focused on a minimalist and ergonomic design, which could be a key advantage.
The motherboard also features an upgraded Frost Armor cooling system. The VRM area is equipped with large heatsinks, composite heat pipes, and a finned structure, which, according to the brand, lowers component temperatures by 15–20% even under extreme loads. While pricing and release date remain unknown, experts note a growing trend toward simplifying PC upgrades. With GPUs becoming larger, solutions like a push-button release system could spare users from dealing with screwdrivers or the risk of snapping PCIe latches.
