Anodyne is a 2D action-adventure set in the surreal dream world of a human named Young. The protagonist explores natural, urban, and abstract locations, speaks with strange characters, and seeks to wake from the dream.

Dungeons and mazes combine puzzles with combat, in which Young uses a broom to defeat enemies. Exploring fields, caves, and other areas opens portals in the Nexus that connect different parts of the world. Finding mysterious cards unlocks deeper reaches of Young’s mind, while health upgrades help the protagonist survive more dangerous areas.
