Brukel is a first-person historical exploration game set in an abandoned farmhouse and based on the real memories of Bie Verlinden. The player searches her childhood home and uses a smartphone camera to photograph objects left inside. Taking a picture of a relevant item triggers a story about it, told in Bie’s own voice; as night falls, the memories grow darker and reveal traumatic events she experienced as a teenager.
Exploration is accompanied by light puzzles, and there is no combat. The camera offers digital zoom, exposure and focus controls for examining and photographing the objects.
