This fantasy platformer follows Trevor Belmont, an ancestor of Simon Belmont, as he battles the forces of Dracula. A prequel to the original Castlevania, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse returns to action-platforming, with levels built around overcoming obstacles and fighting enemies.
At several points, players choose between branching routes, and those decisions affect the ending. Trevor can be joined by companions: after the opening section, one of three characters can be recruited, and each is playable. Some stages are optional, and defeating Dracula unlocks a new run with increased difficulty.
