A prequel to Devil May Cry, the game follows events from Dante’s past and the conflict between Sparda’s twin sons, whose paths have diverged. Along the way, Dante encounters the mysterious Arkham and Lady, a hunter intent on destroying all demons, including him. Combat offers short-range, long-range, defensive, and evasive styles, each with its own features. Developing a preferred style unlocks additional special attack abilities.
