DogFighter is an arcade aerial combat game built around arena-style battles between biplanes. Players pilot their aircraft, use weapons and defensive measures, and perform manoeuvres such as barrel rolls and Immelmann turns. The game features eight aircraft and more than twenty types of weapons and defensive equipment.

There are seven single-player modes and four online multiplayer modes, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and the co-op Wolf Pack mode. Battles take place in environments such as mining tunnels, pyramids and active volcanoes, where the surroundings can help or hinder a pilot.
