Dynasty Warriors 6 is a tactical action game set in third-century China, where battles unfold across fields crowded with thousands of soldiers. Its characters have new weapons and fighting techniques, while the Renbu system enables fast attack combos.

During battles, the player moves across the terrain and uses it to evade enemies. Opponents adapt their offensive and defensive tactics, and can retaliate with packs of hunting dogs or patrol boats.
