Dynasty Warriors 7 is the first game in the series to expand beyond the Battle of Wuzhang Plains. Consequently, the Kingdom of Jin was added, bringing the total number of major factions to 4.
The Renbu combat system has been removed, replaced with the familiar charge system, which allows players to end increasingly longer combos with a charge attack, with different effects depending on the current situation. Characters are also allowed to wield more than one weapon during battle, with the ability to perform a special attack when switching. In addition, both aerial musou attacks (depending on the character) and certain aerial combos were introduced. Players will still be able to adjust the camera angle.
