This VR demo showcases the Freedom Locomotion System, designed for movement through large virtual environments. Across a range of locations and terrains, the player can walk, jog, run, climb, and crawl.
The system centers on Controller Assisted On The Spot (CAOTS) locomotion: the player walks, jogs, or runs in place to move through the virtual world. Less active options include Dash and Blink steps based on teleportation, intended to reduce the likelihood of motion sickness. The demo serves as a proof of concept for traversing large VR environments and using familiar gameplay conventions in them.
