Grandpa is a first-person survival horror game about a kidnapped man trying to escape from a locked house. The protagonist solves interconnected puzzles, opens doors and avoids traps while his captor searches for him.
Noise draws the old man’s attention: if an object is dropped, he hears it and comes running. The protagonist can hide in wardrobes or desks, and syringes can temporarily disable the pursuer. When he becomes too frightened, he closes his eyes and opens them again once he has calmed down.
