Gunboat is a military action simulator about river combat aboard a U.S. Navy patrol boat, set in the jungles of Vietnam, Colombia, and Panama. The player undertakes more than 20 missions, using maps to locate objectives and key sites along the river.
The boat can be operated from four battle stations: steering it or firing from the bow, stern, and midsection. Its arsenal includes machine guns, a rapid-fire gatling gun, mortars, and grenade launchers. Crew members are trained to take on one another’s duties, allowing tasks to be reassigned if someone is wounded or killed.
