This dark fantasy first-person shooter with role-playing elements follows the fight against Eidolon, the last of the Serpent Riders, and his demonic forces. In Hexen II, players choose one of four classes—Paladin, Crusader, Assassin, or Necromancer—and battle dark generals and their minions.

The hero can use spells, abilities, and weapons, earning experience and levels to increase health and unlock improvements to speed, firepower, and jump distance. The campaign spans four worlds drawing on medieval Europe, Ancient Egypt, Mesoamerica, and the Greco-Roman world. Alongside the single-player campaign, the game offers cooperative play and deathmatch.
