Howl is a turn-based tactical game set in a dark medieval fairy-tale world, where a deaf heroine sets out to find a cure for the “howling plague.” The disease turns anyone who hears it into a feral beast, and wolf-like creatures with varied abilities and vitality stand in her way.
In combat, the player plans several steps ahead and chooses tactics to counter each foe. Defeating wolves grants abilities such as Vault, Smoke Bomb, and Piercing Shot; as the journey continues, skills can be upgraded and additional Action Slots and Undo Round Points unlocked. Battles also shape a prophecy, while the game’s “living ink” art gradually paints the story and its obscure, magical locations.
