This role-playing adventure follows a world invaded by mysterious creatures and the struggle to save humanity. The hero travels to temples that appeared across the world 50 years before the invasion, seeking to uncover the creatures’ origins and find a way to defeat them. Progress through the large world is partly non-linear, and reaching the temples means crossing harsh, hostile terrain.

Exploration is tied to the Cue system: finding abnormalities grants skills. Combat calls for strategy against bosses; most enemies are visible, while random encounters occur only on the world map and can usually be avoided. The story leads to a confrontation with the four elemental gods.
