Myst IV: Revelation is a first-person adventure puzzle game about family secrets and a plot involving two of Myst’s most sinister villains. The player explores vivid worlds, uncovers secrets buried since the original Myst, and pieces together a shattered past. Live-action cutscenes advance the story, while other characters can help unravel the mystery.
Progress comes from solving puzzles and interacting with the surrounding environments. Clues can be captured in photographs and recorded in an in-game journal. An optional help system offers flashbacks to earlier Myst episodes, while Zip mode lets the player travel between locations. The soundtrack was composed by Jack Wall, with Peter Gabriel contributing music for the portal to Serenia.
