This first-person adventure mystery follows Nancy Drew as she investigates a traditional Japanese inn, or ryokan. She arrives with Bess and George, but reports of a vengeful ghost frightening the guests turn the visit into an investigation. Nancy must uncover the secret behind the events at the inn.

The player explores the ryokan, searches for clues, and photographs possible evidence. The investigation involves animated characters, each with a secret to protect, as well as games played on a cell phone. Along the way, the story introduces elements of Japanese culture, including origami, tea ceremonies, and calligraphy.
