NBA 2K2 — Each player's abilities reflect abilities based on the 2001–02 season, so shot placement is important depending on the athlete. Moves such as cross dribbles, pump fakes, speed shots, and icon and directional passes give players multiple options to move the ball around the court. When approaching the net, players can press a single button to pass to the player closest to the basket or use their athlete's height advantage to back away from a defender. Players can also request a choice with a button press, pass, or choose from 4 in-game offensive actions out of 16.
