Neverwinter Nights (1991) — players begin by creating a character. After character creation, gameplay occurs on a screen that displays text interactions, names, and the current status of a group of characters, as well as a window that displays geographic images marked with various images of characters or events. When combat occurs, gameplay switches to a full-screen battle mode, in which the player's characters and enemies are represented by icons that move as the battle progresses.
