New Super Mario Bros. 2 — The game's plot is similar to previous games, focusing on Mario and Luigi's efforts to rescue Princess Peach from the captivity of Bowser and his henchmen, the Koopalings. New Super Mario Bros. game 2 is more about collecting coins than other Mario games, thanks in part to the abundance of special items designed to obtain large amounts of coins. The game features a special Coin Rush mode, in which the player must quickly complete a series of stages while collecting as many coins as possible. Shortly after the game's release, it became possible to purchase additional levels for Coin Rush as downloadable content.
