A platforming game with base-building and tower-defense elements, Nom Nom Galaxy centers on establishing soup factories on unexplored planets. The player explores each world, gathers plants and animals for recipes, builds production lines, and automates them with robots. Factories must be defended from local wildlife and rival corporations competing for the soup market.

Planets evolve as a base expands, while available ingredients and recipes depend on their flora and fauna. S.O.O.P. Simulator lets players build, harvest, and explore without corporate competition. The game also features tools for creating and sharing custom planets, local co-op for two players, and online play for up to four.
