Paperbark is an adventure game about a wombat searching for a new home in the Australian bush after a bushfire. During a hot summer, the animal explores its surroundings and looks for food as the landscape comes to life in a stylised watercolour presentation.

The player accompanies the wombat on its wanderings, collects insects and unlocks an interactive sticker library. The story is told through voice narration and animated sequences presented like an illustrated storybook.
