Project Explore is a 2D sandbox survival game where players explore the game world and can create their own content. Its inventory system uses metadata to give items individual traits, and the game supports both single-player and multiplayer.

Mod support lets players alter the gameplay and add new possibilities. Mods can be created, installed, and used in both single-player and multiplayer, while server configuration is also supported.
