Rage 2

Rage 2 is a continuation of the post-apocalyptic first-person shooter from the creators of the series Doom and Just Cause 3. The events of the game take place 30 years after the original RAGE. The Earth has begun to gradually recover after being devastated by a terrible catastrophe. In the game world, vegetation and animals have started to revive, and the environment is no longer as frightening as it once was. The main character was born after the asteroid fell to Earth; alone in a vast open world, he must create real chaos there.

RAGE 2 is a single-player first-person shooter with action and driving elements in a large, open world. It is being developed for PC, PS4, and Xbox One by Avalanche under the supervision of id Software and will be released in spring 2019. The game is a formal continuation of RAGE from 2011; however, its events take place 30 years after the first game's events, and much has changed since then.

The Apex engine from Avalanche delivers high-quality graphics with an abundance of effects. Artists and animators have made the game world alive, colorful, with natural animation, and when enemies are destroyed, fountains of blood can be observed.

The events of the franchise take place on Earth after a massive meteor strike that caused a true post-apocalypse and turned the planet's surface into a dusty wasteland. The advanced society of the future was instantly destroyed, replaced by mutants, raiders, and a despotic government. The few normal people struggle to survive among these factions.

The main difference between RAGE 2 and the original is the game world. It is very large, spacious, and open—you can go or drive anywhere and explore anything. Only part of it is occupied by wasteland and meteor craters; players will visit forests and even jungles with swamps. This way, the authors showed that the world has begun to recover after the cataclysm.

Periodically, players need to make forays into ruined cities, survivor settlements, factories, research centers, and other key locations.

The main character's name is Walker; he is one of the normal people and was previously a ranger of the Wasteland. This hardened fighter has made many enemies but successfully stands against them thanks to interesting abilities that arose from nanotrids—robots found in his blood.

With their help, Walker slows down time, can perform a jump with a strong area impact, regenerate health at low levels, or deal powerful melee attacks. There is functionality for upgrading abilities.

According to all shooter canons, Walker is aided by secondary characters, such as the crazy professor Kvasir from the first part. He stands against the main antagonist—the general Cross, the dictator of the revived Government.

A lot of attention has been paid to the narrative and script of RAGE 2 since it is a single-player game, but not as much as one would hope—the plot can be completed in 6-8 hours.

During the passage, expect a lot of dialogue and negotiations on the walkie-talkie, NPCs often tell details of events, there are notes and audio recordings that contain information about the universe.

You will have to fight several factions, complete difficult tasks and secondary quests, visit arena attractions for fun and simply survive in the open world. The sequel develops the game universe, mentions the events that happened after the original and the fate of its protagonist Nicholas Raine.

RAGE 2's combat system has undergone significant changes, becoming more like a classic Doom-style shooter, rather than a tactical shooter like Rage. The number of decisions made during the battle has decreased; instead, it is necessary to skillfully and accurately shoot the adversaries crawling out of all the cracks.

However, such features of the original as the function of restoring the body after death and the ability to throw technological boomerang wingsticks have been preserved. Periodically, the player uses abilities that even form combinations.

Available different weapons - pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, rocket launcher, energy cannon, BFG 9000, several types of grenades with different effects. Weapons must be looked for in special arks, which are guarded by armed enemies. The higher the level of the ark, the more difficult it is to get to it.

The protagonist's weapons and abilities are perfect for each other. By combining shooting modes, setting up an energy shield, making quick dashes, crushing blows from above, hyper jumps, and so on, you can become a predator of the wasteland.

The mechanics of the vehicle have also been improved, you can install different weapons and armor on it, it is fully adapted to the terrain of the wasteland, be it buggies, cars or gyroplanes. There are more options for vehicles, there are even tanks. The technology is needed to travel around the world, which, given its open nature, will reduce research time.
