This village simulator combines real-time strategy and resource management with tower defense and survival. The player develops a settlement by day, managing the village and expanding it, then defends it from monster attacks at night. Defeats offer a chance to learn more about surviving and apply that knowledge in the next attempt.
Rise to Ruins has several modes. Survival and Nightmare focus on enduring monster attacks, with the latter substantially more difficult. Traditional mode puts greater emphasis on keeping villagers happy and fed, while Peaceful removes monsters and the need for defense. In Sandbox, players can change the time of day and weather, spawn monsters or villagers, and edit the map.
