A first-person shooter with tower defense elements, Sanctum 2 centers on protecting oxygen-producing Cores from alien creatures on the planet LOEK III. During the building phase, players construct walls and towers to shape enemy routes, then enter the fight themselves and take down opponents with weapons.

The campaign can be played solo or in co-op with up to four players. Players choose from four character classes and customize their loadout of weapons, towers, and perks; raising their rank unlocks additional equipment and abilities. Completing maps also unlocks visual novel pages that reveal more about the planet’s story.
