Serious Sam Double D XXL is a 2D action platformer in which Sam battles the army of Mental. The fight spans 18 levels across three worlds, from the pyramids of ancient Egypt to Pompeii and the jungles of prehistoric Earth. Enemies include familiar creatures such as Headless Kamikazes, Gnaars, and Biomechanoids, as well as new foes.
The combat system centers on the Gunstacker, which lets Sam stack weapons on top of one another and fire them all at once. The game also features challenge rooms filled with waves of enemies, hidden secrets, and battles against four bosses.
