This first- and third-person detective adventure is set in 19th-century London, where French burglar Arsène Lupin challenges Scotland Yard and Sherlock Holmes. The investigation unfolds among recreated landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, the British Museum and the Tower of London.

The player takes turns controlling Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson, speaking with characters and examining clues and documents. Items can be used and combined to advance the case. The investigation also visits the National Gallery, and Holmes meets the Queen of England.
