This open-world arcade sandbox takes place in an infinite abstract universe where the player controls a celestial body. In Solar 2, players can complete varied, nonlinear tasks set by a resident god-like entity or ignore them and keep growing. The universe changes as the player develops.

A system can evolve through constructive or destructive play: players can nurture life on their planets and fight enemy life in space battles, or collide with other objects, use orbiting bodies as wrecking balls, and steal planets from other systems. The world has no boundaries, and missions allow for different approaches.
