A tactical tank simulator with action elements, Spearhead puts the player in command of an M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank during a fictional conflict in North Africa. Its 23 campaign missions involve combat and coordination of an allied squad of armored vehicles and infantry, with orders, positioning, and manoeuvres shaped by the terrain.
A mission editor allows players to create their own scenarios, while multiplayer supports both cooperative and competitive play. Battles take place across large maps with changing weather, and several camera perspectives—including turret and chase views—offer different ways to observe the battlefield. Combat features thermal optics and realistic ballistics, and allied units can be directed using the IVIS system.
