This horizontally scrolling shooter is set in the kingdoms of Wizworld, where the villain Zark has stolen all the colour. The wizard Wiz takes the form of a green ball called Wizball, while his cat Nifta helps as Catellite. The goal is to restore colour to eight levels, each of which begins in shades of grey.
On each level, the player navigates the landscape and shoots enemies and coloured spheres, releasing paint droplets that must be collected to colour the level. Wizball cannot collect droplets on his own, and his movement is limited at first; pearls dropped by certain defeated enemies can be used to obtain enhancements. Further levels open as the game progresses, and portals allow travel between them.
