A third-person slasher set in a fictional world inhabited by gremlins and creatures from different eras. The player controls a warrior who fights with a machete, spear, bow, and arquebus, can capture enemies, and use weapons they drop. As the game progresses, a second character with special combat skills becomes available; he attacks with dance moves and a strangling hold.
The campaign has nine chapters, with battles fought alone, alongside teammates, or as the leader of a troop that can be given orders. Enemies include boar-like creatures, warriors from other tribes, Japanese soldiers from different periods, gladiators from ancient Rome, and soldiers of the Qing dynasty. Historically inspired costumes and buildings appear alongside a fictional story.
