An expansion for X: Beyond the Frontier that combines space exploration and trade with combat and the growth of an empire. Rather than following a linear plot, it offers missions throughout the game. The player can pilot fighter ships and small transports, buy vessels, and capture pirate ships.
The universe gains more than 40 sectors for trading and combat. These offer places to build stations and goods to trade; commerce spans over 90 sectors and more than 50 goods available from five alien races. The hostile Xenon remain a threat to defend against.
