A strategy game set in a fantasy universe where battles take the form of tower defense, with the player leading the forces of evil against armies of good. The campaign involves choosing islands to invade, scouting enemy forces, and defending captured territory from attempts to reclaim it. Towers remain on an island unless the enemy takes control of it.

Before each battle, the player selects four towers and four spells, taking enemy strengths and weaknesses into account. Different damage types and crowd-control effects offer tactical options, while Infamy is used to build defenses, research towers and spells, and spy on opponents. The campaign spans more than 30 levels, and interactive comics reveal the story of the world.
