This steampunk strategy game centers on designing airships and land vehicles for large-scale battles over control of the skies. Players assemble craft from modules, choosing weapons, armour, equipment, and other components; layouts affect tactics and performance in combat. Sailors carry out their duties aboard each ship as players issue high-level orders to a small fleet, manoeuvre, ram enemy craft, and board them. Ships and terrain are destructible and can catch fire, explode, break apart, and fall.
The game features three modes: bespoke missions, including player-created ones; Conquest, focused on building an empire; and multiplayer battles over the internet or a local network. Battles also feature giant aerial kraken, mechanical creatures, and other foes, with rewards for defeating them.
