Homeworld is a real-time strategy game. The gameplay, as in most strategy games, is focused on collecting resources, building troops and using them to destroy enemy forces and complete the mission. The game includes both single-player and multiplayer modes; Single-player mode consists of one story campaign, divided into levels. In each level, the player has a goal that they must achieve before they can complete the level, however, the final goal of the mission may change as the events of the level unfold. Between each of the 16 levels, a hand-drawn black and white mural is shown as an in-game video with voice narration from a narrator.
