This real-time tactical strategy game is set on the European battlefields of World War II in 1944–1945, as the Western Allies and the Soviet Red Army race to capture Berlin. The player commands American, British, French, or Soviet forces and faces increasingly strong German resistance as the armies approach the capital.

In the German campaign, events unfold in an alternate reality where German military prototypes have entered mass production. Battles feature more than a hundred unit types, while officers have special abilities. Soldiers can occupy buildings and vehicles, and vehicle damage affects combat effectiveness. Weather, the day-night cycle, and enemy reactions shape battles; factories produce supplies, including camouflage tanks intended to mislead aerial reconnaissance.
