PC Gamer continues to share details of Doom: The Dark Ages from an interview with the developers. This time, game director Hugo Martin revealed that the story of the Doom Slayer may get another prequel.

Recall that in the Doom 2016, the hero was literally found locked in a tomb, where he spent many years. It would be logical to assume that we would see the process itself at the end of Doom: The Dark Ages, but the developers decided to go a different way. And at the same time, they teased the story DLC again:

Not yet. I mean, that would end the Dark Ages, the medieval chapter of the Doom saga. This is kind of like the Chronicles of the Slayer. We do have a DLC and things like that, so it won't—I'm not giving away spoilers—but it doesn't end with him [in the coffin].
— Hugo Martin

The id Software studio is clearly interested in continuing the story of the Doom Slayer in a conditional Middle Ages setting. So we can expect another prequel to Doom 2016.

The shooter Doom: The Dark Ages will be released on May 15 on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. By the way, you can complete the game without any firearms at all with just a shield, but you'll have to try.
