During the storyline campaign of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players have the opportunity to feel like bounty hunters. In this guide, we will detail how to help the village lawman restore order and put an end to bandit lawlessness.
The quest is very easy to miss. You should start this task during the storyline mission The Devil’s Pack in Kuttenberg. After talking to Kubenka about the gang members, head to the village of Myshkovitsy.
Find the lawman Krzhizhek in the blacksmith's house and ask about Matush. The lawman will tell you about the tax collector's gang and add that a reward has been announced for the book he stole. Agree to deal with the bandits, and the quest will begin.
You will encounter Matush with a company of seven armed men during the day halfway between the villages of Sukhodol and Myshkovitsy.
The leader will introduce himself as the royal tax collector and demand a thousand groschen for passage. There are several possible outcomes:
If you manage to part peacefully, the bandits will head to their camp. If you caught the bandits in the camp, you can defeat them in open combat or eliminate them all at night. The simplest option is to steal the book from the tax collector at night while he's sleeping. There's also an option to buy the book from Matush for five hundred groschen if you manage to part peacefully with him.
If the former member of the "Devil's Pack" is left alive, there is an opportunity to learn many skills from him:
Give the item "Rare Book from Sedlec" to the lawman. Before that, you can study it and increase your "Scholarship" skill level. Tell Krzhizhek about the fate of Matush and his gang. Note that if you tell the lawman at this stage that you will not track down the tax collector, the quest will end, and you will not receive a reward.
If you bought or stole the book, you will need to successfully pass a persuasion check by lying that the bandit is dead. The method of obtaining the book does not affect the final result: as a reward, you will receive a couple of hundred silver. If the lawman finds out that Matush is alive, you will receive one and a half hundred groschen as a reward and lose some reputation.
